Wired @ Collingwood

Wired @ Collingwood computer hub

The final report for the Wired Community @ Collingwood has been released, recommending the project “be applauded” for its efforts towards social inclusion. The $3.6 million initiative is the largest project of its kind in Australia, focussing on improving the digital proficiency and online access of the 620 households in the Collingwood public housing estate in inner Melbourne.

The Accessible Jerry Seinfeld website is an accessibility initiative aimed at increasing social inclusion on the internet. The site, an "accessible" version of the official site at: jerryseinfeld.com, was put together with little expertise or budget, demonstrating how "open captions" can be used to enable people who are deaf or have a hearing loss to access audio visual content which other internet users take for granted.

This demonstration project in the City Of Darebin will provide wireless internet hotspots in the Reservoir shopping precincts and adjacent residential areas. iTaNGO is giving community sector organisations the knowledge and resources to get the most out of their information communication technology (ICT) setup by running ICT planning workshops, providing a comprehensive suite of IT resources for NGOs and facilitating communities of practice to share knowledge.

GreenPC

GreenPC refurbishes used computers received from government and business organisations and makes them available to those who might not usually be able to afford a new computer system. The project also provides sustainable job creation opportunities for long term unemployed people, provideing a clear pathway to future employment in the technology sector.
